Packing to go away has always been an exciting task! I take pride in trying to create outfits ahead of time to help myself not get stressed out while away from my full wardrobe, but... lately I have been a total slacker...
When I am heading over to my boyfriends place for the weekend I found I would just throw a big pile of clothing into a bag and call it a day, hoping that something would match. When I was researching the capsule wardrobe idea Click here to read about my current capsule I thought this would be a perfect way to help me pack lighter & smarter.
So eager me took a step back to look at what was actually in this new fall Capsule of mine. I need to put together outfits that will work for what we have planned while I am away.
Since the weather has been pretty mild this week I wanted to get some use out of my fall dresses. Saturday is filled with errands and possibly a nice little trip to the mall :) I want to wear something that is comfortable but also put together. I decided to pick one of my fall dresses that is a little bit thicker of a sweater material Forever21 and pair that with some black booties Aldo and black tights H&M. This outfit doesn't really need any more accessories so this is totally travel friendly!
Sunday we plan on helping my parents at their new house which means no nice clothing.... unless ruining your favourite shirt is your thing... I just plan on wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a hoodie. All things that I would not be upset if I ruined with paint!
Looking back at this outfit plan I wanted to pack one more outfit incase of emergency.... I therefore packed my black jeans with the slits in the knees, a grey loose t-shirt and my blue flannel (all from forever21). This is a nice casual outfit that can easily be dressed down for lounging around the house or up for a dinner with the fam :)
Fast forward to Monday.....
The amount of clothing I packed was great! I actually did not wear the last outfit that I packed (black jeans, grey top & flannel) & I never felt the stress of "what I will wear?" this whole weekend! I am glad that I decided to make an effort while packing my bag & taking that little bit of extra time before I left to layout my options was a life saver. I will continue to use this method when packing for future trips..especially for our trip to California!
