Our winter break has come and gone filled with new memories and stronger personal bonds with loved ones & friends. I am so grateful for all of the memories made this break as well as the moments of pure relaxation. I believe winter break is the perfect time of the year for everyone to get a chance to recharge and rethink how they want to move forward into the new year.
I gave myself four goals to reach by the end of the break. Click here to read My Christmas Break Goal List. Today is the final day before work starts back up and real life begins again. As I am writing this I regret to say that I have not completed all of my goals but I am still satisfied with the amount of effort I have put forth towards them.
- Studying my Pilates books; I was so eager at the beginning of the break to dive my nose into my books that I received for Christmas this year. Before the break even started I had fully read through one of my books and had moved onto the next. During the break I did find a few days where I set time aside to read & practice different exercises and stretches. Although I would have liked to do more with my books this break I feel that I did set a good amount of time aside for pilates during my busy weeks!
- Finish reading my current book: This task was the easiest for me to complete! I cannot remember exactly what day but very early into the break I busted out my reading essentials (a comfy blanket, some coffee/tea, and a cozy spot) . I finished my book in no time! I was very tempted to start a new book during the break but I did not want to commit to another book if I could not finish it before the break was over. During the work week I find it hard to sit down and read a book when I have other things to do. But if I learnt anything from reading my book again it is that I love getting lost into a book, in a story that is not my own. I would like to make more time for reading this year.
- Clean out storage bins/Declutter room: I love to clean my room and tidy up my things. I felt ambitious and was ready to jump into cleaning the parts of my room which have not seen the light of day in a very long time. I have a few bins that I keep under my bed which house a lot of misc. items. It felt great to get rid of the things that I do not need as well as find things I did not know I still had or thought I had lost. I always like to know where everything is and when I cannot find an item I am looking for I get pretty frustrated. I would love to declutter my room again in the spring time and possibly declutter my closet again after I update my closet for spring (Winter Capsule Wardrobe Coming Soon!)
- Fall back in love with the gym: At the beginning of the break I was craving a sweaty gym session. I used to wakeup and before I realized it I was at the gym on a treadmill and to be honest I haven't felt that motivated in a long time. I did not get to go to the gym once this break and I cannot blame any other factor than myself. I am determined to go this week and be better to my body but I think I was set in relaxation mode all break. The times that I finally felt like I wanted to go work out it was either closed for holiday or after hours, I did do a few pilates exercises this break but I think I could have done a lot better. Even though this is the one goal I did not accomplish I believe I am ready to head back to the gym this week and hopefully fall back in love with it! (I will update my blog with progress near the end of January)
In my New Years post I talked about not making generic resolutions for the year, I am determined to go to the gym for me and not for a resolution. I don't want the pressure behind it because I feel with that pressure you are set up to fail.
I will do this for me because I want to.
