Every year I get the itch to start a Spring cleaning in the middle of the Winter. Now to keep my craziness to a minimum I like to hold off for a bit until it is actually warm out and do a good cleaning of my space from top to bottom! I enjoy switching out the Winter decor with something fresh for Spring as well as editing my wardrobe for the warmer climate (Spring Capsule Wardrobe update coming soon!)
The following are four different tips I have that can help make your space ready for Spring!
Clean out bulky winter blankets and darker coloured decor.
I enjoy a good heavy duty blanket for the colder nights but when it comes to Spring weather it tends to get way to hot while I sleep. I like to switch out the comfy knit blankets for a light throw that has a soul purpose to make my bed look complete! I also like to switch out my darker toned pillows with light coloured accents that add light and colour to the space.
Add a touch of colour with flowers and Springtime tones.
Decor for Spring screams fresh flowers and plants. I like to have potted plants, fresh flowers or even fake plants around all spaces of my apartment to add a bit of life into the place! Adding in bring greens, vibrant plants and pastels will really make the place feel like you brought the outdoors in.
Open up the windows and let the light in.
If you have windows that actually open make sure you are letting the fresh Spring air in and letting mother nature regulate the temperature in your place! Since my loft does not have windows that can open I like to make sure to open all my curtains every morning as soon as I wake up to let the sun shine throughout my space. We have all been waiting for this perfect moment of warm weather and it is here now (hopefully where you are too)! Dust off those windowsills and create a new space to decorate, if it be with fresh plants, fake ones or little odds and ends that you have!
Change up the scent!
In the Winter months I tend to light candles and replace my wall plugs with heavier scents but now that Spring is here I like to try and make my place feel as fresh and bright as it is outdoors. I enjoy getting my candles and wall plugs from Bath & Body Works but lately have fallen in love with the DW range from HomeSense/Winners. They not only have great scents to their candles but they have a classic design.
I hope you enjoyed this Spring decor post as much as I did creating it! Let me know what your tips and tricks are for decorating your space for Spring!
